Digging at the Benitoite Gem Mine



January 4, 2007 - Dave Schreiner of Coalinga, who is the owner of the Benitoite Gem mine, is offering to take one or more people by appointment only up to the mine to dig for benitoite for the day.

Here are the details:

To dig during the day:
the cost is $100 per person for one day at the mine (morning till late afternoon)
you are allowed to collect material enough to fill one five gallon bucket only
no hammers or trimming devices are allowed
specimens found larger than the five gallon bucket can be price negotiated on site
you must have a four wheel drive vehicle since access is through the back dirt roads only
there is a porta-potty on site and a couple of trailers in case of bad weather
you are responsible for your own food and water

To UV lamp at night:
 the cost is $1,000 per person for the night 
there is a two person minimum 
you must be in good health
